Heather Ross advocates for patient care through the innovation of science policy, information technology and access to education. Her research centers on cardiovascular treatment, exploring the side-effects of arrhythmia within the heart. She has multiple papers published regarding the nature of death and dying among different religions. She is working on developing wearable health sensors and devices. One of her current projects includes SolarSPELL Heath, a digital library for under resourced communities and health education.

Ross holds a joint appointment in the School for the Future of Innovation in Society and the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation. She is also a Senior Sustainability Scientist in the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability.

She is a certified nurse practitioner with an active practice in cardiac electrophysiology with Arizona Arrhythmia Consultants.
